Child Dedication

Child Dedication

Child dedications are a special and sacred moment where parents publicly commit to raising their children in faith and in accordance with God's ways. Inspired by Scripture, such as Psalm 127:3, which reminds us that "children are a heritage from the Lord," this meaningful ceremony celebrates the gift of new life and seeks God's blessing, guidance, and protection over the child. It’s an opportunity for the congregation to join in prayer and support the family on their spiritual journey. If you wish to dedicate your child, we invite you to participate in this beautiful tradition and join our church family in this act of faith.

  • This is an exciting time for you! You are making the decision to Dedicate your child to the Lord. At the end of the day, Child Dedication isn't really about babies - it's about the parents. God places a high priority on children and how much of a blessing they are in our lives!

"Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him." Psalm 127:3

Our belief at Abundant Life Church is that if we are to follow Scripture as our guide, then everyone (adults and children) who recognizes their need of a Savior then repents and believes in Christ should be baptized (Acts 2:38, 41; 8:36-38).

In the Bible, there is no record of infants or very young children being baptized. We believe this is because they are not yet able to understand their need for salvation. But in Luke 2, the parents of Jesus take Him to the temple to "present Him to the Lord" (Luke 2:22). We also see in the Gospels that infants and little children were brought to Jesus for Him to bless them (Matthew 19:13-15; Mark 10:13-16, Luke 18:15-17). In following this practice, we encourage parents to publicly dedicate their children to the Lord.
