Water Baptism is an exciting “next step” you can take in your walk with God!
Baptism doesn’t make you a believer, it shows that you already are one!
Baptism doesn’t “save” you, only your faith in Jesus Christ does that. It’s an outward symbol of the commitment you’ve made in your heart with Christ.
Why should I get baptized?
- Because we want to follow Christ’s example. (Mark 1:9)
- Because God’s Word commanded it. (Acts 2:38)
- Because it show you are a Christ follower. (Acts 18:8)
What’s the meaning of Baptism?
- It is a symbol of Christ’s burial and resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
- It’s a symbol of your new life as a Christ follower. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
How do I get baptized?
- Like Jesus did – by being fully immersed in water. (Matthew 3:16)
- Every baptism in the bible was by full immersion under water. (Acts 8:38-39)
- the original Greek word “baptize” literally means “to dip under water.”
Who should be baptized?
Every person who has made the decision to believe in Christ Jesus as Lord should be baptized. (Acts 2:41)
When should I be baptized?
The one requirement for baptism is belief in Jesus Christ. We do not baptize children until they are old enough understand and believe. (Usually around the age of 7.)
What about being baptized twice?
Abundant Life Church recommends that you be baptized again if you have not been baptized by immersion since you became a believer in Christ. This doesn’t devalue another experience but simply reflects your decision to be baptized in the same way Jesus was.
